Sermon Outline

Luke 24:13-37

Jesus’ disciples are experiencing:

  • Concession – v. 13
  • Sadness – v. 17
  • Confusion – v. 22

Much of our heartache and disappointment come from misplaced hope.

We put our hope for happiness and fulfillment in people, position, or possessions; all of which will ultimately fail because they are imperfect.

We must have the correct understanding of God’s Word so we know where to set our hope.

The Bible is either about one of two things:

  • Us – how we should act, and live to please God
  • God – who He is, what He has done, and how He interacts with us to provide the way to heaven and life to the full

God’s Word has power and purpose to make you grow and flourish.

Isaiah 55:10-11

Luke 24:32

We must have a personal revelation from reading or hearing the truth from the Word of God.

You cannot hear the Word without reading the Word.

You cannot know the Word without understanding all of the Word is about Jesus.

How do you set your hope on the truth of Jesus?

  • Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you and point you to Jesus.
  • Be honest about your walk with Christ.
  • Put Jesus and yourself in the correct place as you read the Bible.
  • Walk in the revelation you receive that reflects the good news of Jesus Christ.
