The Apostles' Creed - Week 1

Acts 1:6-11

Leaders of the early church came to the conclusion that the truth had come through the apostolic connection.

A creed is a confession or declaration of complex doctrines summarized in a simple statement.

The oldest known creed is the Apostles’ Creed.

A creedal statement is one that we understand and believe will be an anchor for our times.

The Apostles’ Creed starts with this very personal declaration: “I believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth…”

Hebrews 12:28-29

The smaller you see God, the smaller your faith.

God is described as almighty: beyond measurement.

What does this do to my personal faith?

Paul, writing about the greatness of God’s love, gives us hope for all times.

Romans 8:35-39

When I try to comprehend the greatness of God, the thought is overwhelming.

I am not just before God Almighty. He is God, the Father Almighty.

Galatians 4:4-7

I believe because of the presence of God’s love in me.
