Daniel 1:1-5

Babylon became the archetype of the enemy of God and God’s people.

Revelation 17:3-6

Daniel 1:6-7 – What’s in a name?

Daniel (God is my Judge) – Belteshazzar (Bel protect his life)

Hananiah (Yahweh is gracious) – Shadrach (The command of Aku)

Mishael (Who is what God is) – Meshach (Who is what Aku is)

Azariah (Yahweh is my helper) – Abed-Nego (Servant of Nebo)

Daniel 1:8-16 – Daniel and his companions refused to eat from the king’s table…

Daniel 1:17-20 – …and God blessed them because of it.

Chapter 2: Nebuchadnezzar’s dream about a statue

Daniel 2:46-49

Chapter 4: Nebuchadnezzar’s becomes like a wild beast

So What?

1. Always try to see God’s perspective.

The kingdoms of this world are temporal; the Kingdom of God is eternal.

God is always in control of who is in control.

 

2. Remember that we are citizens of another kingdom.

Hebrews 11:13-16

That doesn’t mean we should just check out or disengage.

3. Reveal God to this world through your actions and attitude.

Matthew 5:13-16

 

4. Know who you are.

1 Peter 2:9; Revelation 5:9

 

5. Be blameless.

Philippians 2:14-15; Romans 12:18; Titus 2:7; Daniel 6:3-5

 

6. Don’t compromise.
