Sermon Outline

Philippians 3:12-15

The Big Win is to know Jesus and to walk in the power of His
resurrection!

Prayer should be a daily and integral part of your relationship with Jesus and your church community.

We have to pray to win.

Luke 11:1-13

Jesus would regularly withdraw to secluded places to pray. We
see this in:
Mark 1:35
Luke 5:16
Luke 6:12
Mark 6:46

In order to win, we must make prayer a priority.Luke 10:38-42
 Jesus instructs that sometimes we just need to sit at His
feet.
 Jesus puts a premium on spending time with us!
 What are you choosing today?
 Mary and Martha’s story underscores the radical priority
and primacy of prayer in our lives.

The story of Mary and Martha gives us two pieces of insight
into the behavior of the person who makes prayer a priority.

1. Mary actively chose to sit at the feet of Jesus.
 Culture always begins with commitment.
 Commitment has to progress to delight.
-Psalm 37:4
-Psalm 16:11
 Prayer helps us build an awareness of God.
-Philippians 4:4-7

2. Mary listened to Jesus.
 When listening to God’s voice, remember God
speaks to us about ourselves more than anything
else.
John 5:19
John 17:8
 Listening helps us grow into deeper intimacy with
God.

Seek God first. Seek His presence and listen carefully.
