After the Rapture

2 Corinthians 5:1-10

The Bible teaches that the end time comes for church-age believers in one of two ways:

  1. The earthly body dies.
  2. Jesus takes us in the rapture. It is imminent.

What happens when we die? Paul says to be away from the body is to be present with the Lord.

Acts 7:59-60; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Mark 12:26-27

Matthew 17:1-4; Luke 16:27-28

During this time, there is either comfort or torment. During this time, the dead cannot talk to us, and we cannot talk to them.

Hebrews 12:1-2; 1 Corinthians 15:50-53

So, what happens after the rapture of the Church?

It is important to note the Bible tells us a lot of information about this time with certainty.  But, it does not give us, with certainty, the clear timeline.

What happens in heaven?

  • Great rejoicing
  • Reunions
  • A new body
  • The presence of the Lord

2 Corinthians 5:1-2

The Judgment Seat of Christ

  • This is not about salvation. It is about our stewardship.
    2 Corinthians 5:9-10
  • It is a place of reward, and a place of accountability.Romans 14:10-12; 1 Corinthians 3:11-15
  • The intent of our actions will be judged.
  • The Christian’s judgement will focus on his personal stewardship of gifts, talents, opportunities, and responsibilities given to him in this life.
    Matthew 16:27; Ephesians 6:5-8
  • It is payback time for all the good things you have done.

Crowns

  • The Crown of Life, for those who stood faithful under trial especially to the point of death.
    James 1:12; Revelation 2:10
  • The Crown of Glory for those who minister God’s word faithfully.1 Peter 5:4
  • The Imperishable Crown for those who control the flesh to honor God.1 Corinthians 9:25
  • The Crown of Righteousness for those who long for the second coming.2 Timothy 4:8

1 Corinthians 3:14-15

As we stand before a holy God, we will find shame for our failures and honor for our faithfulness.

Matthew 24:45-51
