Sermon Outline

2 Corinthians 5:6-10

1 Corinthians 3:12-15 - The Day in this passage refers to the judgment seat of Christ.

The call is to live a life pleasing to God.

In life, there is no final test. Life is the test.

The test is in how we live this life. The judgment seat is an examination of our success. Live to please Jesus.

The church we attend is being tested as is the Church as a whole.

So how is Calvary Church doing? We are measured according to our values. One of our core values is to answer the call of scripture to reach the next generation with the Gospel.

This year:

  • We set a new record by sending 2,504 Operation Christmas Child boxes to children around the world.
  • We continued our partnership with Convoy of Hope, and gave $90,000 to One Day to Feed the World.

Coming up at Calvary Church:

  • Kid’s Camp                              June 10-14
  • VBS                              July 8-12
  • Youth Camp                              July 15-19
  • First Day for Calvary Academy       August 19

Purpose brings fulfillment in our lives and in a community. We should be united in purpose.

Two Major Drives -Acts 5:27-29

  1. The Claims of Christ
  • It is our mission to compel every person in central Illinois to seriously consider the claims of Christ and to support ministries around the world that do the same. How can we do this when people won’t come to church?
  • Testimonies – We believe we are to do a series of campaigns proclaiming the Claims of Christ. These claims will be presented to our community through print and social media.
  1. Pastoring people
  • The pastoring gift is “the special gift whereby the Holy Spirit enables certain Christians to assume responsibility for the spiritual welfare of a group of believers.”
  • November 2023: active attendees, members, and newcomers – 1,932
  • Current: active attenders, members, newcomers, and shut-ins – 2,139
