Words Of The Wise, Part Two

Proverbs 16:27-28

This is a warning: Be aware of what others are saying to you

One good question to ask is, “Why are they telling me this?”

When the motive is simply to undermine, it is harmful.

Remember, stories get twisted and exaggerated.

Be aware of the conversations and what they are doing to you. Many times they are untrue, unfair, or unnecessary.

Stay away from them. Look them straight in the eye and say, “Let’s go talk to them right now.”

Proverbs 17:9

Proverbs 17:27

Proverbs 18:8

Bad words corrupt us.Proverbs 20:19

Proverbs 21:23

Pray about the balance between the need to speak up and it just doesn’t matter.

Proverbs 18:6-7

Proverbs 17:20

Don’t lie, don’t exaggerate, and don’t mislead: they all catch up.

Just ask God to convict you when you do something like this.

Proverbs 17:28

Abraham Lincoln once said, “It is better to be silent and thought a fool than to open one’s mouth and leave no doubt.”

Proverbs 25:11

Here is the positive.

Last week we talked about being gracious. Part of that is to be encouraging.

You have the power to bless people's hearts.

When I am talking to someone who can do something about a situation, that is not negative talk, that is helpful talk.

It is fitly spoken when you:

  • Receive it if you are in charge.
  • Speak it if you want things to be better.

Look for the positive and share it.

Verses to look up:

Proverbs 22:11,Proverbs 18:20-21
