Our Words

Ephesians 4:11-16

Three points we see in the passage:

  1. God gifted some people for certain work in His church.
  2. The purpose of this work is to equip the saints.
  3. Saints, in this sense, are what we would call followers of Christ, or Christians.
  4. What is a Christian? A Christian is a person who has put their faith in the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross for their eternal salvation, and has opened their spirit for Jesus to be the Lord of their lives.
  5. The outcome of this work is to build up the body of Christ:
  6. in personal development as a follower of Christ
  7. in bringing the message of Christ to others

We should know and practice four discussions areas.

  1. How did you come to know Christ as your Savior?

  1. What do you believe?

  1. Why do you believe this?

  1. How does your belief make a difference in your life?

Here are a few instructions.

  1. Cover the main bases.
  2. Share these things in three minutes or less.
  3. Practice them.
  4. Let others sharpen your points.

When you do this, you will be equipped for sharing faith with others and building others in faith.

When you are ready, three things will happen.

  1. You will be comfortable when the opportunity comes.
  2. You will begin to recognize people you should talk to.
  3. You will find God giving you opportunities to share.

There is a safety valve in any discussion.  “That’s a good question. I don’t know the answer right now, but I will get the answer and we will talk again.”
