Take time this week to read1 John 4:7 and1 John 5:5

This week’s goal: To see the high value of belonging to a local church and know what that belonging means.

1 John 4:7-8

If we have God in our lives we will have love for others in our lives.

1 John 4:11-12

If we have been born again, His love is growing in us.

1 John 4:13-14

Love is a work of the Spirit in us, and we testify to the world that Jesus is the Savior of the world.

What does the world see? Through us, the world is going to see the selfless love of followers of Christ to other followers and to people of the world.

1 John 4:17

The love of God in us for each other is an assurance that we have met God.

1 John 4:19-21

Americans place a lot of value on love.

What many Americans really value is self.

In a godless world, the priority of life is love of self.

1 John teaches us that when you have the Spirit of God in you, you have the spirit of love in you, because God is love.

True love is a gift of God.

Jesus gives us two clear commands about love.

How does love for others get naturally expressed?

Love is an adhesive.

How does love for God get naturally expressed?

1 John 5:2

To love God is the desire to live to please Him!

How important is love?

John 17:20-21

When we are perfected in love, the world will see the truth of Jesus in our lives.

Perfect love is selfless. That is what Jesus demonstrated for us. Selfish love says, “What’s in this for me?”
