What do we want to accomplish?

Proverbs 22:6

Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.

Repetition, reward, and correction may have some short-term success with children, but it does not complete the job with a human.

Training also implies a process of development.

As parents, we need to know our objectives or our goals.

What do we want our child to be like when they are teens and adults

Discussion

  • What are your objectives with your child?
  • Do you have more?
  • What goals did your parents have for you growing up?
  • How many of you had parents that had good, clear-stated goals for you?
  • What is the difference between a goal and a wish?

To change from a wish to a goal, there has to be planned training.

Go to your page and write down the title of areas you have goals for your children.

One of the goals my wife and I had was for our children to have healthy marriages.

Goals need to be stated, repeated, reasoned, and positive.

Where did this idea of spiritual goals come from?

Assignment

  • What areas do you have goals for your child?
  • Are you and your spouse in unity about the goals?
  • Write out what you are going to do to develop that goal.
  • Righteous Goals is Pillar One.
