How God Sees Nations

Jonah 1:1-2

As Christians, we have a biblical responsibility to consider justice in our nation.

God sees a nation's sins. These sins are many times harmful to its weakest members.

Christians are supposed to be:

  • the salt of the earth,
  • preserving moral righteousness,
  • holding back the rot of selfishness,
  • the light of the world, and
  • doing the works of God so that people will see how society should work.

God, the Creator, both in our individual lives and in our national lives, takes note of:

  • righteousness,
  • wickedness.

To work towards a healthy society, we have to look at our flaws and know what we should be doing.

The American system has built-in checks and balances - a separation of powers.

Major Sins of America

  • Racism
  • Rejection of the sanctity of life
  • Sexual immorality
  • Denial of God

Racism has been part of our country from its inception.

The Church has to ask, “How can we bring healing and health?”

For the Church and the Christian to accomplish this calling, we must hold to truth.

Generally, you do not find truth and understanding in the extremes.

There are some lies being told today that the Church has to speak up and oppose.

There are some deep wounds that the Church should work to heal.

Where does the Church start?

Jonah 3:3-5

Jonah 3:10

How does God see nations?

God sees the good and bad of national action.

Rebellion brings judgment.

In the book of Jonah, God relented because of national repentance.

We can pray for God to heal the wounds of a national sin.

The Church can pray for national awakening.

We can pray and ask God to show us our hearts.

America suffers today because we have turned from God and are walking in our own wisdom.
