Faith and Focus

Joshua 1:6-9

This series is about living in the promises of God.

We don’t have a Promised Land to take. We have promises that, if we live by them, we will have spiritual life and live in the divine nature of God.

2 Peter 1:3-4

The story of Israel is a picture of how God works in His people’s lives.

Romans 6:16-18

ReadRomans 6:16-23 each day this week.

Egypt is a picture of life before the freedom of Jesus.

Matthew 22:37-40

They didn’t live by the faith in God that a relationship with Him requires.

To live in the Promised Land, the influence of Egypt, (slavery), has to be broken.

This influence is why many Christians still live in the desert.

God starts with a commandment of faith: Be strong and courageous and do not be frightened or dismayed.

God reminds Joshua of two important truths that we need to know:

  1. This is what I swore to your fathers I would give to you.
  2. Give yourself to obeying God in all areas of life.

Joshua 1:7-8

One Christian author says discipleship is learning to think, feel, and act like a Christian.

If you want to live in the land of God’s promises, take time this week to discover any place where you are stuck in the desert.

Then begin to consider, where do you need to courageously apply God’s Word to this area of your life?
