Sermon Outline

Revelation 1:9-16

The foundation of the follower of Christ is we are people of the Good News.

We have been made with eternal substance.

That reality in our minds should shape everything about our temporary life on earth.

People of the Good News are called to be people of faith.

Hebrews 11:6

This is a mind- and thought-defining scripture.

  • We believe He exists.
  • We believe He rewards those who seek

Take note of what Jesus commended the churches for in Revelation:

  • Faithfulness to do what is right
  • Faithfulness in the face of persecution
  • Faithfulness to test teaching
  • Faithfulness to witness

It is the call of the Church to be a people of faith.

We are to live our lives the way the Bible tells us to live.

We are to test the words of our culture.

For this church to be a people of the Good News, we have to put our faith in God.

This is a vital principle of faith: Does my life align with the Bible?

People of the Gospel should be a shining light in the world.

Jesus defines this clearly to us inMatthew 5:14-16.

This instruction applies to both the Church and the individual.

How can I be a light in my world?

Am I someone whom others want to have around them at crunch time?

Our faithful character matters. It is the foundation of the power of our witness.

The Church is supposed to:

  • hold solid to biblical truth,
  • care for one another,
  • do God’s work in our community, and
  • do good works in the world.

We are people of the Good News, so we should be good news in all areas of life.
