Sermon Outline

Read and study the Bible!

2 Timothy 3:16-17

Why is studying scripture so important?

  • If we faithfully and consistently study the Bible we will get all the rest.
  • It is breathed out by God.
  • It is profitable.
  • The Bible is a living document that, as we study, we are changed for the better.

2 Timothy states the Bible is “good for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”

We suffer loss when we don’t study the Bible.

We have to battle our feelings. There is a deeper foundation to build on than our feelings. Paul says we need to inform our feelings when feeling want to inform us.

Do you treat the word of God as something profitable?

Here is a truth. In a fallen world we need something to correct our feelings. The Word!

The Word comes from God and is profitable to know.
