Sermon Outline

John 3:19-21

The message of Christmas is that light has come into the world.

The world needs healing. The world needs to know right from
wrong.

Who or what should be able to tell us right from wrong?
- The Bible says the baby in the manger came to be the light of the world.
- In this diverse world, who is right?

The Bible claims Jesus is the answer. He came to bring light into a dark world.

Jesus, as the Creator, has the highest place to know what is right and wrong for His creation.

Jesus came to bring His light into our lives and write it on our hearts.

Do we see the darkness within us?

We must be careful that we are not flashlights shining the light on the darkness all around but unable to shine the light on ourselves.

The good news of Christmas is that Jesus is the light of the world.

Jesus brings light into all of the circumstances of our lives.

He wants to light up our hearts.

The darkness appeals to the darkness within us.

We develop the ability to shine the light on others, but we don’t judge the darkness in ourselves.

Flashlights don’t get into heaven.

Matthew 7:22-23

The Holy One, the Almighty, has shown up in weakness to be the light of the world. He came to light up our hearts.

Some people are flashlights while others just have the pilot light lit.

When we become blazing stars instead of flashlights, the glory and wisdom of God begins to shine all around.

Our life-messages everyday become Merry Christmas!

We don’t have to wonder what is right or wrong, nor stumble in the darkness. We don’t have to fight on our own. Jesus came so He can live within us and so His light can shine through.

With His light shining through comes a sense of purity, cleanness, wholeness, peace, clarity of mind, and a love that destroys bitterness, anger, frustration, worry, and fear.

This is why we celebrate Christmas and why we should say Merry Christmas!

Proverbs 10:2, 11:19-20

Jesus brings healing to a broken world.
