Sermon Outline

Romans 10:6-13

Jesus brings us the gifts of love, forgiveness, and peace.

Deuteronomy 30:11-15

The commandments are not hard to understand.

This scripture states, "I have set before you today life and good, death and evil."

In Romans 10, Paul appeals back to this covenant promise.

He gives them two revelations of what Jesus comes to do:

1.Romans 10:9a - This confession is recognized as the first required confession of faith in the New Testament church.
" "Lord" means God, Deity, King of Kings, or Supreme One.
" To say "Jesus is Lord" was a confession of His deity.
" This was the word of faith.
" It was the very thing that the wise men said they were looking for, the promised King.Matthew 2:2
" The wise men came to worship Him, to bow down before Him, and to recognize Him as the promised Lord.
" The possibility of good or bad points to one truth. We all need a King.
" Today, our world needs a true King.
" Today, our nation needs a true King.
" Today, you and I need a King. Until you see your need for a King, you will struggle.
" This is the first confession of the believer: "I need a King, and I confess that the King I need is Jesus."
" What we get on Christmas is a King. A King perfect in every way. Do you see that you need one?
" The Bible is the Word of the King to His people.
" The Bible comes with the way of truth and the promises of God.
2.Romans 10:9b - This belief comes from a revelation of the Spirit.
" You can reject Christ with this revelation, but you cannot accept Him without this revelation.
At Christmas, we get a King and a risen Savior.
