Sermon Outline

Genesis 12:1-3

What are the narratives of our lives?

How are we called to handle the narratives of our lives?

Can sorrow be turned to joy?

What should we know about the highs of life and what should sustain us in the lows of life?

Can the plot of our lives be twisted? Are our lives too irredeemable? Does one event ruin everything? Where is God in our lives?

What did the characters of the Bible do right or wrong, and how should we be informed as a people of God?

Abram is a story of plot twists and of God changing the narrative. Genesis 12-25 is a story of a man of faith who got it right at times and got it wrong at other times.

Genesis 12:1-3

The story of Lot and his determination.

Genesis 13:10-11

This passage is a lesson. Be careful how you make a choice. Choices lead somewhere.

Lot made a choice on what looked good, but what looked good was deceptive.

Lot needed saved, but he didn’t learn from it.

What’s next for Lot and his rescue?

Genesis 18:20-21

The lesson of these passages is that the cry of the oppressed is heard by God, and He will answer.

Genesis 19:29

Lot was not saved because he was troubled by the sin of Sodom.  He was saved by the intercession of Abraham.

Some of us have loved ones not living where they should. They are being influenced and led by the passions of the flesh.

God listens to the voice of His faithful people.

We must:

  • Live a life honoring God.
  • Plead their case before God.
