Sermon Outline

Genesis 12:1-3

God has a plan for our lives.

At the center of God’s plan for us is love, joy, peace, and purpose.

Abram’s story is full of plot twists. It is full of God’s intervention, redirection, protection, and revelation. Genesis 12-25.

What changed Abram’s narrative?  God spoke to him.

Lessons We Can Learn

  1. The end of our narrative is not here on earth.
  2. Wherever God leads us, He will give us the peace to walk through the moment.

Acts 7:2-4

Does God speak to us today?John 16:5-7,John 15:12-13

How does God speak to His followers today?

  • Through the Bible
  • Through leaders and teachers
  • Through the Holy Spirit which stirs conviction in our spirit

What stifles the voice of God?

  • The culture
  • Our desires

James 1:14-15

Almighty God speaking to us is a big deal! He will not tell you something contrary to scripture.

  1. Abraham obeyed.

Genesis 12:4a,Genesis 15:1

The narrative of Abram’s life does not fit the promise.

Sometimes the promises of God look bleak!

Genesis 15:4-5

The Big Lesson

Genesis 15:6,Hebrews 11:6

No matter what the circumstances, for God’s narrative to take over, you must believe the promises of God.

As we walk through Plot Twists and apply the lessons to our lives:

  • We must draw near to God.
  • We must learn to hear His voice.
  • We must obey.
  • We must have faith.
