Sermon Outline

Revelation 20:1-8

We have now come to an important point in our future journey.

Jesus will set His feet on the earth and a new age begins.

This new age is important because we will all live through it.

We will look past this age and look toward the final answer – the New Heaven and New Earth.

However, this age will be a glorious time.

Revelation proclaims this new age.

  • Satan will be bound in the bottomless pit.
  • The world will be free from Satan’s influence.
  • The martyred saints will reign with Christ.
  • The believers who took part in the first resurrection will reign with Christ.
  • The world will have a time of peace.
  • This new age will take place on the present Earth.

This and more will happen during what we call the Millennium.

  • The era is tied to a specific timeline.
    • In Revelation 20, it is revealed to John to reveal to us that this age, the age of Christ’s rule on the present Earth, will last 1,000 years or a millennium.
    • In these verses of Revelation 20, the term “one thousand years” is repeated seven times.
  • It will be a time when Christ fulfills prophecy and rules on the earth, setting up His reign in Jerusalem.
  • It will be 1,000 years without the deceiver and his influence, as Satan will be bound during this time.

Why believe?

We are told of two things that leave us without excuse:

  1. The Word of God
    • testifies with moral consistency and wisdom
    • shows God’s fulfilled promises to the Jewish people and the Jewish nation
    • includes miracles that show the power of God
    • Hebrews 4:12-13
  2. The Heavens
  • Our present earth, life, body, and universe all cry out that there is a Creator.
  • Romans 1:18-20

Psalm 19:1-11
