Sermon Outline

Philippians 4:4-7

The key verse of Philippians: Philippians 4:4.

Read about the birth of the church of Philippi in Acts 16.

The principle of our giving being credited to our account before God, and the promise that God will meet the giver’s needs is spelled out in this book.

Study Philippians 4:10-20, especially if you struggle with giving or you simply want to grow in your understanding of giving.

Paul addresses a few issues with the Philippians. He encourages them to grow in:

  • knowledge of the Lord, and

  • discernment.

Now we come to the meat of the message:

  • Happiness is about happenings.

  • Joy is about being in Jesus.

Philippians 4:4

As the night continues in the dark prison cell the living image of Philippians 4:4: They begin to rejoice in the Lord.

Suddenly God is on the move.

Mankind may have its plan but God will always fulfill His.

If you want to see the move of the Lord, you need to keep rejoicing in the Lord.

The pathway to peace begins with being in the Lord.

  1. Be gentle.

  2. Don’t be anxious.

  3. Get God involved.

  4. The promise of God.

Philippians 4:7

Do you have that kind of peace?

Are you “in the Lord” with such clarity that He will shake you free?

If not, spend some time in Philippians 4:1-9 this week in your appointment with God and begin to rejoice in Him.
